Today was my first day of work since Christmas Day. My mind has been buzzing the last couple of days with things I wanted to get done today--mostly organizational, getting some things in place that would make things easier later this year. I mean, it's the week after Christmas, things should be pretty quiet; there aren't extra meetings and programs this week, so it's a great time to try to get ahead. Right?
I don't know what kind of delusional thinking I was engaging in to think that might happen today though. The boss is on vacation and it turns out the parish administrator is home sick for the week. I hadn't been in the office for five minutes before I was inundated with phone messages, mini-crises, and the task of producing all the bulletins (I usually edit them, but don't have to copy and fold).
Well, getting ahead was a nice thought while it lasted.

Isn't that always the way? Hope the week smooths out for you...
I'm back to the parochial coal face today - so you have my sympathies. I know I'm coming back to 3 funerals...goodness knows what else, but I'm about to sally forth to discover. Hope today is better for you
Silly silly girl, thinking you would organize things and get ahead. =)
