Grumpy

The Kid was up til almost 2am finishing his biology project last night. SIGH. To his credit, it turned out nicely and he still managed to get up in time for school this morning. I stayed in bed later than I should have, but I was still tired all day, and work had its fair share of aggravations. I didn't get home until 6:30 this evening, and when I came in the house it was awfully dark and quiet. The Kid was sound asleep. When he goes to sleep he is very hard to wake up, and he has this way of being partly awake and talking, but not really being awake that used to freak me out. Now I can usually tell if he is really awake or not. So even though he responded to me a couple of times when I tried to wake him up, it was 8:30 before he actually was awake enough to have a real conversation. And of course, he had homework to do for tomorrow. So it was not a particularly cheerful place at chez Rev. Dr. Mom this evening. And who knew I'd still be dealing with sleep schedules when the Kid was almost 15?

The weather was damp and chilly and dark today, too, and I think that increased my grumpiness. I was tired enough to doze off while the Kid was doing homework, but then instead of just going to bed when he finished, I am sitting here at the computer. Because I am foolish that way.

I am disappointed that I will miss both a long planned blogger meetup and the investiture of the new Presiding Bishop, +Katharine Jefferts Schori this weekend. Saturday looks to be a long day: an 8:30 am meeting followed by two funerals. And one of those funerals necessitates me working at least half a day tomorrow, my day off. Again.

Okay I am going to bed now so I won't be grumpy tomorrow. I hope.

I worry about the amount of homework my high schooler is doing. I know it's good preparation for college, but they need to sleep, too! And as you rightly point out, so do we.
