Prescient

One of my favorite comics is "For better or for worse" by Lyn Johnston. There are many parallels between that family and my own. Recently the strip has been drawing on the archives; the comic for today must be about 25-30 years old, but it could be right now. (Click to embiggen)

That is eerie.

it is. i keep wondering how come, all these years later, we stopped trying to conserve fuel and clean water, can't manage food for the hungry and health care for all, have seen educational opportunities blast out of reach for many and the income gap grow even wider, etc.

Yes, I was sad to see her semi-retire, although with all that's gone on in her life, you can't blame her. She has been one of my favorites for decades now.

Sigh. I had a conversation this weekend with people who were trying to tell me that it's just hard to understand that our actions today are going to have consequences for the next generation. And so to some extent we should be excused.

No, we shouldn't be. This is why we have government. Regulation and laws. Someone who can tell us how to change things now so that the next generation WILL still have something left.
