It's raining, it's pouring...

...The old man is snoring.
Went to bed and bumped his head,
and didn't get up in the morning.

Yes, it is raining...pouring in fact. And this nursery rhyme popped into my head when I woke up and heard the torrential rainfall.

I loved reading nursery rhymes to my kids, and I've already bought Baby J some Mother Goose books. I especially like the ones with all the verses. But some of the words are not the best, although that never seemed to bother my kids.

Just a random thought on this rainy rainy morning...

Dr. Foster went to Gloucester in a shower of rain.
He stepped in a puddle
Right up to his middle
And never went there again.

At my previous job, I edited an early reading book that was meant to be based mostly on nursery rhymes.

Due to issues of political correctness and cultural diversity, we ended up replacing most of the nursery rhyme with other poetry. While I understood the concerns (raised by teachers and school district administrators), it was also a frustrating experience since, like you, I enjoy the rhymes, too.

You know, Gloucester isn't THAT bad...I was there for a funeral only this afternoon. And yes, it was (and is still) raining ;-)

Oooh, I haven't heard the Gloucester one, but I love that whole area.

Thanks for the congrats! Things are definitely exciting around here!
