My mantra over the last couple of years has been "Let it go, let it go" sung to the tune of "Let it be"--and you know, it really helped. In the last year I've tried to let go of thinking about people in my life who have caused me angst. Especially my former boss. So much happened the last year I was there that I just didn't understand. As is my wont, even after I left, I continued to think about it and process it to try to make sense of it, but I reached a point where I said, "ENOUGH!" It is over and done--let it go."
I really needed to do that--because otherwise he and our poor relationship would define who I am and what I do no, and that's not healthy and not where I want to be. That's giving him a power that he shouldn't have. And really, it's over now.

I'm a lot better at recommending this to other people than doing it myself. Thanks for this reminder about giving other people power they ought not have.
