~I know there is lots of commentary out there about last night's VP debate, but I'll quickly add my own two cents worth.
~I didn't really know much about Joe Biden and was lukewarmish about him as a running mate for Obama, but I came away from last night's debate feeling much more positive about him. His answers seemed thoughtful, he is knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics, he wasn't afraid to poke a little fun at himself, nor did he hide his emotions when he spoke of being a single dad.
~Palin, OTOH, came across as too cutesy, too folksy, and quite annoying. While she didn't stumble as badly as she' done in her interviews, her refusal to even attempt to address the questions asked seems inexcusable to me and I kept hoping Gwen Ifill would call her on it. And what's with the winking at the audience?
~I'm also surprised that no one (at least that I know of) in the media has called Palin on her "tolerance" towards gays and lesbians who have "chosen" a "lifestye" that she (Palin) wouldn't choose. Has she not been paying attention? Does she not realize that one's sexual orientation is more than choosing a "lifestyle?"

I missed the debate. I was out watching Spring Awakening, a musical I'm sure Sarah Palin wouldn't approve of!
Oh my gosh - I didn't hear about the "tolerance" for gays and lesbians comment! Frankly I'm surprised she said even that - guess her people told her she wasn't allowed to condemn GLBT people outright. She scares me. She makes me crazy, annoyed, irritated...
And I, along with the rest of the seminary (and the Chelsea neighborhood, I'm guessing!) am voting for Obama.
I admit I watched only to make fun of Palin.
I disagree with her on almost every political stance she's taken, so there's no chance of me ever voting for a ticket that includes her.
apprently, the mccain folks insisted on no followup questions as part of the format for this debate.
a LOT of commenters [pros and amateurs alike] were unimpressed by palin's decisions to perkily spout off unrelated talking points instead of answering questions. hello! -- all that oil under alaska doesn't tell me much about palin's views about bankruptcy protection, you know?
she claims that one of her closest friends is lesbian. that makes the "tolerance" thing even more inexplicable. what an insult.
Completely agree. Unfortunately, those who support her see the commentators as being "mean" and see Sarah as being like them and if they were in her shoes, they wouldn't know either. Well, that is the point. Podunk ME shouldn't be a VP candidate and neither should Palin. A potential president should be much smarter and well versed on these issues and the nuances.
