Spiritual Progressives: Yes, Christmas Was Stolen, But Who Is to Blame?

Quite by accident I found this website and on it a wonderful article by Rabbi Michael Lerner, Christmas Wars Again? The Jews and Secularists did NOT steal Christmas, but it WAS stolen!!! Rabbi Lerner articulates many of the concerns that not only I as a progressive Christian but also it seems Jews and secularists share about Christmas.

The Network of Spiritual Progressives is an interfaith group whose vision is to:

1. Changing the Bottom Line in America

2. Challenging the misuse of religion, God and spirit by the Religious Right

3. Challenging the many anti-religious and anti-spiritual assumptions and behaviors that have increasingly become part of the liberal culture

This sounds like a group I want to learn more about.

(The website says the groups is welcoming to "spritual but not religious" secular folks, too)..

It looks like a good site, even if we do refer to Rabbi Lerner as "Rabbi Gilderoy Lockhart" around here...

Oh dear. I don't know anything about him, but I'll keep that in mind :)

Phantom, does that mean he's self-promoting? (Since the other descriptor for Lockhart might be cowardly...)

I took it to mean perhaps more show than substance at times, although self-promoting describes Lockhhart well.

At it's worst, though, it could mean fraudulent.

Oh dear, I'm so late to circle back to these comments. My apologies! I don't know of any reason to consider him fraudulent, but, yes, self-promoting would be an excellent descriptor.
